RDSP Connect
RDSP Connect is a private service that helps people understand Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) eligibility and navigate the RDSP process. Services include a free consultation to review eligibility, help completing the documentation to open an RDSP, and ongoing support with planning contributions and investments with the goal of maximizing Canada Disability Savings Grants and Bonds. Each year, RDSP Connect reviews the client's Grant and Bond Entitlement Statement with them, and can point people to resources for Disability Tax Credit (DTC) questions. RDSP Connect is not a government service and is not affiliated with the Government of Canada or with Accessible Compass. Slinn Tax
Slinn Tax provides virtual tax services with a focus on Canadians who have been approved for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC). The service offers reviews of DTC-approved tax years to help identify potentially missed tax credits, deductions, benefits, adjustments, and eligible family transfers. Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada — GAIN Program
The GAIN Program (Guidance & Assistance in Navigating Disability Support) is a free service offered by Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada (VLRC). VLRC's Disability Benefit Navigators provide one-to-one support to help people with disabilities understand and apply for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC), the Canada Disability Benefit (CDB), and other federal, provincial and territorial credits and benefits, including help with appeals. Although operated by VLRC, the GAIN Program assists people with all disabilities, not only vision loss.
Independent Living Nova Scotia — Disability Benefits Navigation (DTC Navigators)
Independent Living Nova Scotia (ILNS) operates a federally funded Disability Benefits Navigation service. ILNS DTC Navigators provide free, bilingual, one-to-one support to help people with disabilities and their families across Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador) apply for the Disability Tax Credit and related federal and provincial benefits.
Plan Institute — Disability Planning Helpline
Plan Institute is a Canadian non-profit and registered charity that helps people with disabilities and their families plan for a good life. Its free national Disability Planning Helpline offers one-on-one support with the Disability Tax Credit (DTC), the Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP), the Canada Disability Benefit, wills and trusts, and future and financial planning. Plan Institute also offers free webinars and online courses on the RDSP, DTC, and building personal support networks. Disability Alliance Canada
Disability Alliance Canada is a national cross-disability non-profit that provides free one-on-one support to help people navigate federal disability programs, including the Canada Pension Plan Disability Benefit (CPP-D), the Disability Tax Credit (DTC), and the Canada Disability Benefit (CDB). They also offer educational guides, training and workshops, and help with applications, reconsiderations, and appeals.

NWT Disabilities Council
The NWT Disabilities Council exists to educate, advocate, and support the self-determination of all individuals with disabilities in the Northwest Territories. It is the territorial cross-disability organization supporting NWT residents with disabilities and their families.
Nunavummi Disabilities Makinnasuaqtiit Society (NDMS)
NDMS is the territorial organization that offers support, advocacy, education, and resources for Nunavummiut with disabilities. It is the main cross-disability organization supporting Nunavut residents with disabilities and their families.
Pathway to Benefits (Mood Disorders Society of Canada)
Pathway to Benefits is a free, national disability benefits navigation program led by the Mood Disorders Society of Canada. It helps Canadians with disabilities and their families navigate the Canada Disability Benefit (CDB), the Disability Tax Credit (DTC), and provincial and territorial support programs, with plain-language guidance and personalized assistance by phone and online.
The Epilepsy Association of Edmonton and Northern Alberta (EAENA)
The Epilepsy Association of Edmonton and Northern Alberta (EAENA) is a registered charity supporting people living with epilepsy and seizure disorders, and their families, throughout Edmonton and Northern Alberta. The organization provides programs, services, information, education, resources, and support related to living with epilepsy — including epilepsy education (Epilepsy 101), support programs for adults and families, information booklets in English and French, school and community education, and resources on driving, employment, and daily life with a neurological condition. EAENA serves children, youth, adults, and seniors affected by epilepsy across Edmonton and Northern Alberta, including communities north of Red Deer such as Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo.
Disability Related Employment Supports (DRES)
Disability Related Employment Supports (DRES) is a Government of Alberta program that provides funding for supports and services to help Albertans overcome disability-related barriers to employment or education. Supports include assistive devices and technology, ASL interpreting and captioning, communication and hearing devices for work, workplace access and modification, and vehicle modifications for work-related purposes.
RMWB Specialized Transit
RMWB Specialized Transit (formerly SMART Bus — Special Mobility Assistance Required Transportation) is the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo's application-based, curb-to-curb shared transit service for eligible residents with mobility challenges who are unable to use conventional transit. It is now part of the RMWB Transit On Demand platform but remains a distinct, eligibility-gated program. It is not the same as the general Transit On Demand service.
Alberta Disability Assistance Program (ADAP)
The Alberta Disability Assistance Program (ADAP) is a Government of Alberta income-support program for Albertans with severe disabilities. Launched July 2026, ADAP is designed to empower Albertans with disabilities to pursue employment while continuing to receive financial, health, personal and employment supports. There is a single combined application for both ADAP and AISH; eligible applicants are placed in the program best suited to their situation. AISH continues for those who meet specific criteria. ADAP's core financial benefit is $1,740 per month, with an employment income exemption of $700 per month for single clients.
Service Canada Community Outreach and Liaison Service (COLS)
The Community Outreach and Liaison Service (COLS) extends the reach of Service Canada by visiting communities across Canada, especially those with limited access to in-person offices. COLS builds relationships with community organizations and partners to connect people — including persons with disabilities, seniors, newcomers, youth and those who cannot easily travel to an office or use online or phone services — with Government of Canada programs, services and benefits. It offers information sessions, application clinics, kiosks at community events, and a Service Referral Initiative for at-risk individuals.

The Benefits Finder is an official Government of Canada tool on Canada.ca that helps Canadians find federal, provincial and territorial programs and benefits they may be eligible for, including financial assistance, healthcare, tax credits and other supports. Users answer a few questions to receive a personalized list of relevant benefits.
McMan Youth, Family & Community Services — Fort McMurray
McMan Youth, Family and Community Services Association (Edmonton and North region) provides family support, respite and disability services in Fort McMurray. McMan is a not-for-profit social service agency serving communities across northern Alberta, including Fort McMurray.
Wood Buffalo Housing & Development Corporation
Wood Buffalo Housing & Development Corporation (WBH) is a not-for-profit organization that has provided safe, affordable housing in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo since 2001. It offers programs for every level of housing need, including rent subsidy and community housing, near-market rentals, and seniors housing, including accessible units.
Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) — Wood Buffalo Region
CMHA Alberta Wood Buffalo Region is the local Fort McMurray branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association. It provides mental health services and facilitates access to the resources people require to maintain and improve mental health, promoting community integration, resilience, and recovery from mental illness and addictions. This is the local Wood Buffalo service and is distinct from the national CMHA resource.
Taproot Community Support Services
Taproot Community Support Services (formerly WJS Canada) is a CARF-accredited, employee-owned Canadian social services organization providing a range of disability and community support services, including supports for people with diverse abilities, family and community supports, specialized mental health and trauma services, acquired brain injury (ABI) services, Family Resource Centres, and Indigenous culturally-based programs (Spirit of Our Youth). Taproot operates in communities across Alberta, including Fort McMurray.
Autism Society of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (Autism RMWB)
The Autism Society of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (Autism RMWB) is a local, community-based organization in Fort McMurray that creates an inclusive community through programs supporting autistic individuals and all those living with neurodiversity and disabilities, and supports their families across their lifespan. This is the local Wood Buffalo organization and is distinct from the national Autism Society Canada.
ARCH Disability Law Centre
ARCH Disability Law Centre is a specialty legal clinic that practices exclusively in disability rights law. Since 1979, ARCH has been a leader in disability rights advocacy and test case litigation, dedicated to defending and advancing the equality rights, entitlements, fundamental freedoms, and inclusion of persons with disabilities with low income in Ontario. ARCH is primarily funded by Legal Aid Ontario and provides legal advice, representation in test cases and human rights matters, public legal education, and law reform.
Dedicated Accessible Transit Service (DATS)
Dedicated Accessible Transit Service (DATS) is the City of Edmonton's door-to-door shared transit service for residents who cannot use regular transit because of a physical and/or cognitive disability. Eligibility is determined on a case-by-case basis and a registration process is required.
St. Aidan's Society
St. Aidan's Society is a Fort McMurray-based non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of seniors throughout the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, helping older adults age well at home through programs, outreach, and community partnerships. It is a seniors' aging-in-place organization, not exclusively a disability organization.
Special Olympics Wood Buffalo
Special Olympics Wood Buffalo is a volunteer-based community of Special Olympics Alberta providing year-round recreational and competitive sport training and opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities in the Wood Buffalo region.
Wood Buffalo Wellness Society
The Wood Buffalo Wellness Society is a Fort McMurray non-profit that leads the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo's Coordinated Access System and delivers Housing with Supports for individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability. It is not exclusively a disability organization, but serves people with disabilities among others.
Spinal Cord Injury Alberta
Spinal Cord Injury Alberta (SCI Alberta) is a non-profit organization that empowers Albertans with spinal cord injuries and other physical disabilities to achieve independence and full community participation. Part of Spinal Cord Injury Canada, it has supported Albertans since 1945.

Caregivers Alberta is a non-profit organization founded in 2001 that champions unpaid, family caregivers so they can fulfill their roles in a healthy, sustainable way. It provides resources, mental health support, education, and advocacy for Albertans caring for family members or friends.
Easter Seals Alberta
Easter Seals Alberta is a non-profit organization that has supported Albertans living with disabilities and medical conditions since 1951. It fosters inclusion, independence and wellbeing through accessible camp, family resources, and supported housing.
Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD)
The Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) program is a Government of Alberta program that helps eligible adults with developmental disabilities plan for and access services to meet their personal needs and goals. PDD funds supports such as residential and community living, employment, and family-managed supports, delivered through service providers across Alberta.
Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD)
The Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) program is a Government of Alberta program that works in partnership with eligible families of children with disabilities to help them plan, coordinate and access services to raise their child at home and in their community. FSCD is based on the Family Support for Children with Disabilities Act.
Residential Access Modification Program (RAMP)
The Residential Access Modification Program (RAMP) is a Government of Alberta grant program that helps low- to moderate-income Albertans pay for permanent home accessibility modifications so they can live independently and safely.
Alberta Supports
Alberta Supports is the Government of Alberta's single contact point for more than 30 social programs and 120 services, including AISH, the Alberta Disability Assistance Program (ADAP), Income Support, FSCD, PDD, and DRES. Services are available online, by phone, and at Alberta Supports Centres across the province.
Office of the Advocate for Persons with Disabilities
The Office of the Advocate for Persons with Disabilities is a Government of Alberta office that represents the rights, interests and viewpoints of persons with disabilities and provides information and referrals about supports and services. Note: as of the latest official update, the office is operating remotely and is not taking in-person appointments.
Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee (OPGT)
The Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee (OPGT) is a Government of Alberta office that assists adults who are unable to make personal or financial decisions for themselves. OPGT provides guardianship and trusteeship services, information on capacity assessments, help with court applications, and handles complaints about guardians, trustees and agents.
Alberta Ombudsman
The Alberta Ombudsman is an independent oversight office that investigates complaints about unfair treatment by provincial government programs, including Alberta Supports, Income Support, AISH/ADAP, and matters heard by the Appeals Secretariat (such as FSCD). The Ombudsman is an oversight and complaint avenue, not a disability service provider, and generally requires you to first complete the complaint or appeal process with the agency involved.
Alberta Human Rights Commission
The Alberta Human Rights Commission is the independent body that administers the Alberta Human Rights Act and resolves human rights complaints. Under the Act, physical disability, mental disability, and illness are protected grounds. The Commission handles complaints of discrimination in employment, goods, services, accommodation and facilities, and tenancy, and addresses the duty to accommodate. It does not handle only disability matters.
Calgary Transit Access
Calgary Transit Access (CTA) is the City of Calgary's shared door-to-door transit service for people who are unable to use regular Calgary Transit due to a disability. Registration and an eligibility assessment are required.
Red Deer Transit Action Bus
The Red Deer Transit Action Bus is a door-to-door shared-ride public transportation service for City of Red Deer residents who cannot use regular transit with dignity because of a disability or physical need. It serves persons with disabilities, seniors, and children with disabilities. The Action Bus is not a taxi service.
Lethbridge Access-A-Ride
Access-A-Ride (AAR) is a City of Lethbridge shared-ride public transportation service for people who cannot use the regular public transit service with safety and dignity. AAR provides safe, accessible door-to-door transportation for eligible riders within Lethbridge.
Grande Prairie Accessible Transit (GPAT)
Grande Prairie Accessible Transit (GPAT) is a shared-ride, door-to-door public transit service for residents who cannot use regular transit for some or all of their travel needs due to a physical or cognitive impairment. All GPAT buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts.
Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL)
Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) is a Government of Alberta program that helps Albertans with a long-term disability, chronic illness or terminal illness pay for basic medical equipment and supplies so they can live independently at home and in their community. AADL works with Alberta Blue Cross and Alberta Health Services; AADL-approved authorizers assess eligibility and needs, and approved vendors provide the equipment and supplies.
Inclusion Yukon
Inclusion Yukon (formerly the Yukon Association for Community Living) is a territorial non-profit organization that envisions a Yukon where people with disabilities are valued, supported, and empowered to lead full lives of their own choosing. It supports people with intellectual and other disabilities and their families across the territory.
Inclusion Saskatchewan
Inclusion Saskatchewan (formerly the Saskatchewan Association for Community Living) is a provincial non-profit organization that supports people with intellectual disabilities and their families across Saskatchewan. Rogers Connected for Success offers low-cost internet ($10/month) to low-income households, including those receiving disability benefits.
Cogeco Accessibility Services
Cogeco offers accessibility accommodations for customers in Ontario and Quebec including large-print and braille billing, TTY relay services, closed captioning, described video, and accessible customer service. Cogeco also participates in the Connecting Families program for low-income households.
Connecting Families — Federal Low-Cost Internet Program
A federal government program providing low-cost home internet ($10–$20/month) to low-income Canadian families. Families receiving the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) or living in subsidized housing qualify. Available through participating ISPs including Bell, Rogers, TELUS, Shaw, Cogeco, Videotron, and others. Speeds of 10–50 Mbps depending on provider.
TELUS Accessibility Program
TELUS offers a range of accessibility services for customers with disabilities, including TTY/TDD relay services, large-print and braille bills, reduced-rate internet through Connect for Good, and accessible device options. Their Accessibility Hub provides information on adaptive technology and services for customers with visual, hearing, mobility, or cognitive disabilities.
