RAMQ Devices
Quebec's RAMQ program covers the purchase, replacement, and repair of technical aids that compensate for a physical (motor) deficiency, such as orthoses, prostheses, walking aids, manual and powered wheelchairs, posture assists, and standing aids. Eligible residents with a valid Health Insurance Card may receive covered devices through authorized facilities or laboratories.
Useful Tips for Applying
Coverage excludes certain items (for example, adult walking frames, elastic stockings, orthopedic shoes, fabric corsets, plantar orthoses, and orthoses worn only for sports), as well as 3- and 4-wheel scooters, which are covered under a separate Quebec program. Devices lost, stolen, or damaged through negligence are not covered. Some aids must be used daily for a minimum period to remain covered.
Who May Qualify
You may qualify if you have a physical impairment and hold a valid Quebec Health Insurance Card, and you meet the coverage conditions for the specific device you need. Some devices require a prescription or medical report from an authorized health professional.

A valid Quebec Health Insurance Card and, for certain devices (such as some orthoses, prostheses, locomotor assists, or walking aids), a prescription or medical report from an authorized health professional.
How to Apply
Go to an authorized public rehabilitation facility, or — for an orthosis, prosthesis, or walking aid — an authorized private orthosis and prosthesis laboratory. For a locomotor assist, posture assist, or standing aid, go to an authorized public rehabilitation facility. For repairs or replacement, return to the facility where the device was obtained.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Assuming all mobility devices are covered — 3- and 4-wheel scooters and adapted shoes are under a different Quebec program. Obtaining a device from an unauthorized facility or laboratory, which is not covered. Not using a covered aid for the required daily minimum period.
