The Saskatchewan Housing Benefit is a monthly benefit that helps eligible renters with their shelter costs (rent and utilities). It is for households that spend a large share of their income on housing, reducing the risk of housing insecurity.

Useful Tips for Applying

Make sure you list income for every adult in the household to get the right amount. If you receive SIS, SAID, or SEI, ask how the Saskatchewan Housing Benefit works alongside them. Report changes in rent or income so your benefit stays accurate.

Who May Qualify

You may qualify if you rent your home in Saskatchewan, spend 35% or more of your annual before-tax household income on shelter costs (rent and utilities), have less than $300,000 in household assets, and your annual before-tax household income is at or below the limit for your household size.

Required Documents

Proof of Saskatchewan residency, income information for all household members 18 or older, proof of rent and utility costs (lease or rental agreement and utility bills), and information about household assets.
