New Brunswick Disability Support Program

NB DSP

The New Brunswick Disability Support Program (DSP) provides personalized, flexible supports for adults with long-term disabilities aged 19–64. The program offers one-on-one guidance to develop a custom support plan to increase independence and community participation. Services may include home support workers, respite, personal living skills training, disability-specific transportation, and assistive devices. It does not provide income support; applicants requiring financial assistance for basic needs must apply separately for the provincial Social Assistance program.

Who May Qualify

• Residents of New Brunswick; • Individuals aged 19 to 64; • Individuals with a long-term disability (excluding conditions that do not result in long-term disability or services for addictions); • Individuals who require disability-related supports to address unmet needs in their living arrangements, support networks, or community participation.

• Full name; • Date of birth; • Phone number; • Current address; • A description of the activities you need help with and the reasons for those needs. (Note: Additional documentation may be requested by a social worker or facilitator during the formal assessment process).

How to Apply

1. Visit the online portal at nbsocialdevelopment.my.site.com/applications to complete the pre-screening tool. 2. Alternatively, call the Department of Social Development at 1-833-733-7835 (press 1 for English or 2 for French, then 3 for disability services). 3. Work with a social worker or an independent facilitator (such as those from Inclusion NB) to develop a personalized support plan. 4. Complete a financial assessment to determine your contribution toward the cost of approved supports.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

• Thinking DSP covers income support — it doesn't; apply for Social Assistance separately • Not knowing that Inclusion NB can help you navigate the application at no cost • Providing incomplete descriptions of your daily activity limitations • Not appealing if your application or support plan is denied
