Last reviewed: September 2026

Useful Tips for Applying

Apply early in pregnancy to receive the benefit for as many months as possible. The benefit is income-based, so confirm your net family income before applying. Healthy Baby also offers community support programs alongside the cash benefit, so ask your caseworker about those.

Who May Qualify

You may qualify if you are pregnant, live in Manitoba, and have a net family income of less than $32,000 per year. You must apply during pregnancy to receive the monthly benefit.

Required Documents

A medical note confirming your pregnancy and expected due date, proof of Manitoba residency, and your net family income information (from your tax return).

How to Apply

Apply through the Manitoba government Healthy Baby page as early as possible in your pregnancy. You will need a medical note confirming your pregnancy and expected due date, plus your family income information.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

A common mistake is applying too late in pregnancy and missing months of support. Another is not providing the medical note confirming the pregnancy and due date. People also miss that the benefit is based on net family income, so filing your taxes matters.
