Manitoba Home Care Program
MB Home Care
The Manitoba Home Care Program provides in-home health and personal support services (such as nursing, personal care, and therapy) to eligible adults, seniors, and people with disabilities so they can live safely and comfortably at home rather than moving to a facility. Care is based on assessed need.
Conseils utiles pour la demande
Request an assessment early, before a crisis, so services can be planned. Tell the coordinator about all your care needs and any help you already receive from family. Some services may involve cost-sharing depending on your situation, so ask about costs during the assessment.
Qui peut être admissible
You may qualify if you are a Manitoba resident registered with Manitoba Health who needs health services or help with activities of daily living to remain safely at home, and who needs more assistance than existing supports and community resources can provide. Eligibility is based on an assessment, regardless of age.
Documents requis
Manitoba Health registration, a home care assessment by a coordinator, and information about your care needs and existing supports.
Comment présenter une demande
Contact your regional health authority's Home Care office for an assessment. A coordinator assesses your care needs, health status, and ability to remain at home.
Erreurs courantes à éviter
A common mistake is assuming you must be a senior — home care is for Manitobans of all ages based on assessed need. Another is not knowing that some services may involve cost-sharing. People also miss that home care is for people who need more help than family and community resources can provide.
