Manitoba Pharmacare is an income-based prescription drug benefit program that helps Manitobans of any age or diagnosis whose income is seriously affected by high prescription drug costs. You pay an income-based deductible, after which eligible prescription drugs are covered for the rest of the year.

File your taxes so your income-based deductible can be set. Once you meet your deductible in a year, eligible prescriptions are covered until year-end, so keep filling prescriptions at the same pharmacy. Ask your pharmacist whether a drug is on the Pharmacare formulary before relying on coverage.

You may qualify if you are a Manitoba resident aged 18 or older with a tax filing history whose income is seriously affected by high prescription drug costs. Coverage is based on your total family income and the amount you pay for eligible prescription drugs.
Documents requis
A filed income tax return (so your deductible can be calculated), your Manitoba Health registration, and your prescription information from your pharmacy.

Erreurs courantes à éviter
A common mistake is not filing a tax return, which means your deductible cannot be calculated. Another is assuming you must be on social assistance — Pharmacare is for any Manitoban with high drug costs relative to income. People also miss that the deductible is income-based, so lower income means a lower deductible.
