BC Low Income Grant Supplement for People with Disabilities
BC Low Income Supplement
If your BC Home Owner Grant for people with disabilities is reduced or eliminated because your home's assessed value is above the grant threshold, the Low Income Grant Supplement can top it back up. Most qualifying low-income people with disabilities who apply receive a cheque for the supplement amount set for the year.
Conseils utiles pour la demande
Apply for this at the same time as your Home Owner Grant to avoid delays. Check the current income threshold before applying. If your income or assessment changes, you may become eligible in a future year even if you were not before.
Qui peut être admissible
You may qualify if you already qualify for the Home Owner Grant for people with disabilities, your property is assessed above the annual grant threshold (so your grant was reduced or eliminated), and your adjusted net income is at or below the threshold set for the year (currently $32,000).
Documents requis
Proof that you qualify for the Home Owner Grant for people with disabilities, your property assessment information, and your adjusted net income (from your tax return).
Comment présenter une demande
Apply through the BC government low income grant supplement page for people with disabilities, providing your adjusted net income information, when you also claim your Home Owner Grant.
Erreurs courantes à éviter
A common mistake is not applying because the main grant was reduced — the supplement exists precisely to help in that situation. Another is not realizing your adjusted net income must be at or below the set threshold. People also miss that you must already qualify for the Home Owner Grant for people with disabilities.
