NWT Homeowner Repair Program
NWT Home Repair
The NWT Homeowner Repair Program helps low- and modest-income homeowners pay for essential home repairs to keep their homes safe and livable. It provides forgivable loans of up to $50,000 for eligible repairs, with a co-payment for households above a set income.
Conseils utiles pour la demande
Apply as soon as intake opens, since the program has a single annual intake and funding is limited. The forgivable loan can reach up to $50,000 and becomes a grant if you stay in the home for the required period, so read the terms. If your household income is over about $59,999, budget for the 10% co-payment.
Qui peut être admissible
You may qualify if you are an NWT homeowner in need of essential repairs, your household income is within the program limits, and you apply during the annual intake. Households with income over about $59,999 must co-pay 10% of the repair costs.
Documents requis
Proof of NWT residency and home ownership, household income information, and details of the essential repairs needed. A co-payment agreement is required if your income is over the threshold.
Comment présenter une demande
Apply through the NWT Housing Corporation when intake is open (usually a single annual intake). Submit proof of income, ownership, and the repairs needed.
Erreurs courantes à éviter
A common mistake is missing the annual intake deadline, since the program opens for a single intake. Another is not knowing the forgivable loan becomes a grant if you stay in the home for the required period. People also miss that households over a set income (around $59,999) must co-pay 10% of the repair costs.
