PEI Housing Assist

PEI Housing Assistance provides low-income Islanders with appropriate housing at a reduced cost. This can include renting a social housing unit or receiving a rent supplement that reduces the cost of rental market housing. The program is needs-based, with priority given to those assessed to be in the greatest need.

Apply early to join the Social Housing Registry, since placement is based on need and availability. Keep your income and family information updated so your priority stays accurate. Ask about rent supplements for privately owned units if social housing is not available in your area.

A valid PEI Health Card, proof of PEI residency, household income information, and details about your current housing situation and family size.

Apply for family housing or a rent supplement through the PEI government Family Housing page. You join the PEI Social Housing Registry and are placed based on need and availability.

A common mistake is not applying early, since there can be a waitlist through the Social Housing Registry.
