QC Work Premium Supp
The Supplement to the Work Premium is a monthly benefit (often around $200) for low-income people who have just left Quebec's Social Assistance, Alternative jeunesse, or Aim for Employment programs and started earning income from work. It supports the transition from social assistance into employment.
Claim the supplement for each month you qualify in the year after leaving social assistance, since it is paid monthly. It is paid on top of the regular or adapted work premium, so claim both. Keep pay records to show your work income each month.
You may qualify if you are no longer receiving social assistance, are no longer eligible for Alternative jeunesse or Aim for Employment because you have income from work, received social assistance or those program allowances for at least 24 of the 30 months before leaving, and your work income is at least $200 for the month you claim.
Your Quebec income tax return with Schedule P, proof that you left the Social Assistance, Alternative jeunesse, or Aim for Employment program, and proof of work income of at least $200 for each month claimed.
Claim the supplement on your Quebec income tax return (Schedule P) for the months you qualify after leaving social assistance. Your work income must be at least $200 for the month you claim.
A common mistake is not claiming the supplement in the months right after leaving social assistance, when it applies. Another is not meeting the $200 monthly work-income minimum. People also miss that you must have received social assistance for a set period before leaving to qualify.
