Saskatchewan Supplementary Health Benefits
SK Supplementary Health
Saskatchewan's Supplementary Health Benefits program provides additional health coverage (such as prescription drugs, optical, dental, and medical supplies) on top of the province's universal health benefits, for people enrolled in qualifying income support programs.
Conseils utiles pour la demande
Confirm with your caseworker that Supplementary Health Benefits are active on your file. Ask your pharmacist whether a prescription needs prior approval before you fill it. If you move from SAID or SIS into work, ask whether any health coverage continues during the transition.
Qui peut être admissible
You may qualify if you are a Saskatchewan resident enrolled in SAID (Saskatchewan Assured Income for Disability), SIS (Saskatchewan Income Support), or SEI (Saskatchewan Employment Incentive), and you meet the program's conditions. Residents in special care facilities may also qualify.
Documents requis
Enrollment in SAID, SIS, or SEI, and your Saskatchewan Health Services Number. Your caseworker confirms your eligibility as part of your income support file.
Comment présenter une demande
There is usually no separate application — if you are approved for SAID, SIS, or SEI, Supplementary Health Benefits are provided as part of your file. Confirm with your caseworker that the coverage is active.
Erreurs courantes à éviter
A common mistake is not realizing you must be enrolled in SAID, SIS, or SEI to get Supplementary Health Benefits — they are not a standalone program. Another is assuming all drugs and services are covered; some require prior approval. People also miss that coverage can continue in some cases after you leave income support, so ask about transitions.
