Saskatchewan Home Repair Program – Adaptations for Independence
SK Home Repair
The Saskatchewan Home Repair Program – Adaptations for Independence provides financial assistance to low-income homeowners (and rental property owners) to make a home more accessible for a person with a housing-related disability. Grants help fund modifications such as ramps, grab bars, accessible bathrooms, and wider doorways so the person can live more independently at home.
Conseils utiles pour la demande
Get approval before starting work, and get contractor quotes in advance so your request is realistic. Focus the modifications on accessibility for the household member with the disability. If you are a rental property owner, confirm the agreement required with your tenant before applying.
Qui peut être admissible
You may qualify if you own and occupy the property as your primary residence in Saskatchewan, have a household member with a housing-related disability, and your annual household income and assets are at or below the limits set by the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation. Rental property owners with a tenant who has a disability may also apply.
Documents requis
Proof that you own and occupy the home as your primary residence, documentation of a household member's housing-related disability, household income and asset information, and details of the planned modifications.
Comment présenter une demande
Apply through the Saskatchewan government Home Repair Program page or Saskatchewan Housing Corporation. You must own and occupy the home as your primary residence and meet income and asset limits.
Erreurs courantes à éviter
A common mistake is starting renovations before approval, which can affect funding. Another is not meeting the income and asset limits. People also miss that rental property owners can apply on behalf of a tenant with a disability, with the right agreement.
