Saskatchewan Cognitive Disability Strategy
SK CDS
The Cognitive Disability Strategy (CDS) provides services and financial support to individuals with cognitive disabilities and their families. It is designed to address unmet needs that cannot be met by other systems, using evidence-based interventions tailored to the person.
Conseils utiles pour la demande
Work with a CDS coordinator to clearly identify unmet needs and the evidence-based interventions that would help, since funding is tied to those needs. Keep records of what other programs have and have not covered, since CDS fills gaps. Family support plans can include alternate care for adult children at home.
Qui peut être admissible
You may qualify if you are a Saskatchewan resident, have a cognitive disability that results in long-term limitations, and have an unmet need related to that cognitive disability that can be addressed through an evidence-based intervention. Funding is income-tested.
Documents requis
Documentation of a cognitive disability that causes long-term limitations, an assessment of unmet needs that can be addressed through evidence-based interventions, and your family income information for the income test.
Comment présenter une demande
Apply through the Saskatchewan government CDS page or with the help of a CDS coordinator. Funding levels are determined by an income test and an assessment of unmet needs.
Erreurs courantes à éviter
A common mistake is assuming CDS duplicates other programs — it specifically covers unmet needs that no other system addresses. Another is not documenting the unmet need clearly, which affects funding. People also miss that adult children living in the family home may be considered as part of a family support plan.
