BC Rebate for Accessible Home Adaptations
BC RAHA
The BC Rebate for Accessible Home Adaptations (BC RAHA) provides up to $17,500 in rebates toward home adaptations that directly address a person's permanent disability or loss of ability. It helps homeowners and renters make changes such as ramps, grab bars, widened doorways, and accessible bathrooms so they can stay safely in their home. BC RAHA replaced the former Home Adaptations for Independence (HAFI) program.
Conseils utiles pour la demande
Get pre-approval before any work begins. Focus adaptations on those that directly address the permanent disability or loss of ability to meet the program's criteria. If you are a renter, talk to your landlord early since their agreement is required. Keep all receipts and invoices for the approved work.
Qui peut être admissible
You may qualify if you are a BC homeowner or renter, you or someone in your household has a permanent disability or loss of physical ability, your household income and assets are below the program limits, and the planned adaptations directly address that disability or loss of ability.
Documents requis
Documentation of a permanent disability or loss of physical ability (from a health professional), household income information, and details and quotes for the planned adaptations. Renters need the property owner's agreement.
Comment présenter une demande
Apply through BC Housing's BC RAHA page. Pre-approval is required before you start work, so submit your application and supporting documents first.
Erreurs courantes à éviter
A common mistake is starting renovations before approval, which can make the work ineligible. Another is not realizing renters can apply (with the property owner's agreement). People also confuse BC RAHA with the older HAFI program — applications now go through BC RAHA.
